The first eatable@VIP Cinemas event was Jeremiah Tower: The Last Magnificent, a must-see documentary from Executive Producer Anthony Bourdain, about one of the most controversial and influential figures in the American food revolution. Eatable and Cineplex partnered with The Chase restaurant and Perrier-Jouet champagne with Chef Tyler Shedden at the helm. What turned the event into an unforgettable one for foodies was that Chef Jeremiah Tower agreed to fly from his home in Merida, Mexico to attend the event, and cook with Chef Tyler Shedden.
The evening started with a champagne reception in the lobby of the VIP Cinemas at Yonge and Eglinton, while the team of chefs plated the dishes in the beautiful area outside the theatre – perfect for social media photography. The excitement of the guests was heightened when a parade of Cineplex servers brought the gold-rimmed dishes in for each guest.
After introductions by Cineplex VIP VP Biggio di Carlo and Eatable Executive Director Rachel Low, Chefs Jeremiah Tower and Tyler Shedden introduced the menu of Chef Tower’s classics. An appetizer of squash blossoms with goat cheese, herb aioli and tomato vinaigrette, entrée of brioche with marrow, lobster, poached garlic and chervil, and dessert of figs in red wine with walnut cream. Guests received information about the menu and wine pairings throughout the evening and there was a Q&A with Chef Tower after the film.
